Letter in solidarity with the hunger strikers Pola Roupa and Nikos Maziotis by the Women Prisoners in Korydallos Prison, 13th of November 2017.

We want to express our solidarity with our fellow prisoner Pola Roupa and her partner Nikos Maziotis who have been on hunger strike since the 11th of November 2017 and we ask for the fulfilment of their demands which are:

1) Repeal the 6th paragraph of article 11 of the new penal code which is being discussed in the Parliament, according to which, prisoners assigned to every legal category could be allocated to segregation facilities / wards / sections where they would be kept separate from general population in groups or individually.

The competent judicial authority decides where a remanded detainee will be housed especially if they have been convicted for planning escapes and other condemnable acts within correctional facilities and could be placed under the law for criminal and terrorist organizations.

2) Release Nikos Maziotis from solitary confinement as soon as possible.

3) Regulate the issue of visiting hours faced by the two hunger strikers.
