01.12.17: In the lead up to a visit by Turkish President Erdoğan in December, the counter-terrorism unit of the Greek State carried out a series of raids in Athens on Tuesday that resulted in the arrests and detentions of 9 Turkish comrades. The 9 comrades, 8 men and 1 woman, are accused of being members of the outlawed left-wing guerrilla group DHKP-C (Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party-Front), setting up a DHKP-C cell as well as illegal possession of explosive material and firearms and resisting arrest.

The comrades were led into court by the masked and heavily armed counter-terrorism unit. One of the male comrades had a black eye. The comrades have not entered any formal plea and their names have not been released so far by the Greek State. The lawyer representing the comrades had this to say about them:

“They are refugees. Some have sought, others have received asylum…they are fighters who are struggling against a fascist regime, against torture and thousands of arrests”.
The comrades were defiant as they were led from the court (see photos and video), yelling revolutionary slogans with their heads held high. There was a strong presence of comrades gathered outside the court in solidarity with the defendants. They raised a banner in support of the comrades and loudly chanted slogans of solidarity.

INTERNATIONAL REVOLUTIONARY SOLIDARITY WITH THE ARRESTED COMRADES!
